We are starting a new month and closing in on the end of the first quarter in three weeks. I have really enjoyed getting to know my students this semester and I have gained to appreciate the awesome community that I have a chance to be a part of; this is a tribute to the quality parents and community support that our students have; keep up the great work!
Economics:
Monday: Students will be examining how interest rates on loans will affect decisions that they make as well as explore the advantages and disadvantages of repaying debt over a long period of time. Students will have a short assignment as well.
Tuesday: Students will explore the various places to obtain credit and various components of credit and how they operate in our society. Students will have an assignment on a Guided Reading 4-2.
Wednesday: Students will examine the components of credit cards; how they make money even if they are paid off on time as well as exploring the three 'C's of credit.
Thursday: Students will examine the components of credit in regards to big purchases and buying a home to help them consider strategies for saving now for future items that they want.
Friday: We will conclude our week with reviewing some of the key points, have a quiz and begin monitoring our stock purchases and allowing students the freedom to sell and reinvest in other areas.
U.S. History:
Monday: Students will conclude looking at the problems that farmers were being faced with in the last part of the 19th century and look at how farmers began to organize to have a voice.
Tuesday: Students will examine the Populist Movement; the key ideas of this movement and how successful this movement was in shaping American History.
Wednesday: Students will have a short quiz looking at the primary points learned over the Populist movement and be given a review guide to help them pin-point primary targets for the major quiz on Friday.
Thursday: Students will go over the review guide in class and final questions and answers will be explored in preparation for their quiz on Friday.
Friday: Quiz on Populist Movement and then students will be asked to begin looking at the key ideas and supporters of the Progressive Movement that will help to transform America at the start of the 20th Century.
